The Batman and Robin Adventures
#8 - "Harley and Ivy... and Robin?”
Main stars: Harley Quinn The Joker Writer: Paul Dini Penciller & Inker: Ty Templeton Rick Burchett Colourist: Linda Medley Synopsis: Robin busts Harley & Ivy in the midst of a crime only to get zapped with Ivy's special intoxicating kiss! Ivy's willing slave, he helps plan and perpetrate a series fo robberies Batman cannot stop! But Harley doesn't like being a third wheel and decides to take matters into her own hands... The Good: One of those gorgeous and coveted early H&I appearances this one is Dini written and Templeton illustrated - what a dream team! This issue goes a little further in illustrating the essential characters of Harley & Ivy as well. Ivy's manipulativeness and predatory nature, even the way she dominates and neglects Harley. Harley's own neediness and desire for approval and of recognition (and that Ivy really doesn't recognise her...) Plus it's just fun seeing the Boy Hostage in such a situation. The story itself is a great romp as Ivy takes full advantage of Robin's infatuation and Harley seethes and simmers in the corner. It's a pretty playful and fun straight out comedy tale with a little action thrown in. Works for me! The Bad: I would've liked to have seen something Mistah J-ish around Harley at some point. But that's just me! I know I should be more critical... I'm trying... really! Overall: 4/5 Recommended? Did you doubt? Oh heck yeah! |
